Muscat: ATLAS Star Medical Centre, Al Ghoubra, part of the internationally acclaimed ATLAS Jewellery Group, is all set to inaugurate their surgery, labor room and casualty facilities.

Announcing this at a press conference here yesterday, M.M. Ramachandran, Chairman and Founder of the ATLAS Jewellery Group, said ATLAS had taken yet another step in its quest to provide world-class medical service to the residents of Muscat.

Dr. Ahmed bin Abdulqader Al Ghassani, undersecretary for health affairs at the Ministry of Health, will inaugurate the new facilities tomorrow at 10am.

"The surgical and maternity complex is in the first floor and is well equipped with the most modern and state-of-the-art equipment. We have also installed a bed lift, which can easily transport a stretcher, to the upper floor of the building. We are happy to note that we are moving in the right direction. The residents of Muscat can now get most of their healthcare needs attended to under one roof," said Ramachandran.

ATLAS Star Medical Centre, in just a year's time, has expanded its facilities. "When we started our operations here in Muscat we had only a limited number of doctors and nurses but over the period of time we have added lots of new specialties. There has also been expansion in every department. In a short period of time we have managed to establish ourselves very well and create a good name among the public," he added. "The locals are also utilizing our services. They have formed an important base among our patients. We are happy to announce that most of the Omanis have brought in their friends to the clinic. Our satisfied patients are thus turning out to be our best promoters. The friendly ambience, the experienced and qualified doctors and the compassionate paramedical staff have all played a major role in our patients getting full satisfaction," he pointed out.

Dr, Rohil Raghavan, in charge of administration, observed that there would be two operation theatres- one a minor and the other a major theatre.

"The two operation theatres are well-equipped with centralized oxygen, fresh air AC, hydraulic OT table with all accessories, the most modern anesthesia machines and above all well-trained and professional staff. All surgical cases including general surgery. orthopedics, ENT, ophthalmology and dental, etc can be undertaken. The labor room also has a centralized oxygen supply. All types of cases right from normal deliveries to caesarean sections can be conducted here," he said.

"The casualty is open round-the-clock and the duty doctors are trained to meet and address the emergency needs of the patients. The specialists are also available on call 24 hours," he added.

"Health is of prime importance for every individual. People have realized the need to take proper care of their health. They have started utilizing the services of medical centers not only when they are unwell but also as a step to maintain good health. We have introduced various types of health checkups, which help in detecting illness well in advance. We also strongly believe that for us healthcare is a social commitment as well as a responsibility," said Ramachandran.

Ramachandran was very appreciative of the officers and the managers of the Ministry of Health, Muscat, who maintain very stringent standards, which is in fact, exceedingly good for the medical centre and for the public.

At the same time, the ministry officials advise us on the spot wherever we have to improve and their suggestions have been very useful to us. I would like to go to the extent of saying that the upgrading of the medical centre would have remained a dream, but for the cooperation extended to us by each and every ministry official. In the development of the industry and economy of every country, banks play a major role. I would like to put on record that we cannot forget the Bank of Baroda management right from the chairman to the lowest level of the employees, all of them have been of great assistance to us in executing this project. A word of gratitude to the suppliers of machinery like Aston Medicals. Bhawan Engineering, Jenak Health Care India, etc and the suppliers of medicines, Muscat Pharmacy, Waleed Pharmacy, etc. They have all supplied these items in good time, which is very essential for us to extend prompt services to the patients. I am also delighted to say that the doctors, para-medical staff have been very devoted and dedicated. There is no doubt that our progress has been made simple by their dedication. I wish them all continuous success in pursuing their careers. We have taken extra care to see that Omani nationals are employed with us in a ration better than which is prescribed under the law. This has paid us rich dividends, as our Omani staffs are very smart, caring and fully devoted to our patients.

Ali Saleh Al Mujani, who has been associated with the ATLAS Jewellery Group ever since its inception in the Sultanate of Oman, expressed his happiness in the association started in the field of jewellery which was then extended to healthcare. "The dynamic growth and the vision of Ramachandran has really served as an inspiration for us. It was his initiative and dynamism that has helped us provide these new privileges in such a short time. His keen business acumen, strong emphasis on quality and above all transparent and straightforward business dealings have impressed me a lot. I sincerely hope that Ramachandran would extend his medical services to the other parts of Oman."

ATLAS is now a multi-specialty medical centre with a dedicated team of well-qualified and experienced doctors and compassionate paramedical staff. The department and specialties include ENT, pediatrics, dentistry, dermatology, radiology, physiotherapy, etc. ATLAS Star Medical Centre also provides complete diagnostic services. The radiology department has the latest X-ray and ultra sound unit.

There is also a full-fledged laboratory with fully automated equipment to undertake not only routine tests like hemoglobin but also specialized tests like hormonal assays and tumor markets. There is also a 24 hour on call ambulance to meet the emergency needs of the patients.

"We are endeavoring to add more specialties like a Cardiology Department soon as possible. We are also pretty sure that with this inauguration, the need for patients to be seeking treatment outside Oman will be minimized", Ramachandran added.
