Dr. C. Thomas is the pioneer Plastic Surgeon in Oman, a very well-respected figure in the medical fraternity and has served as the head of the Plastic Surgery Service in Oman, the largest department of its kind in the Middle East, since its inception.

He joined ATLAS in 2005 as a Senior Consultant and built up the plastic-reconstructive surgery, Cosmetic and hand surgery department. Since then he has performed numerous major and minor plastic surgeries at the hospital. The major surgeries include abdominoplasty with liposuction, blepharoplasty, repair of the cleft palate and cleft lip, subcutaneous mastectomy, carpal tunnel decompression and rhinoplasty to name a few.

Considering his meritorious service to the development of medical services in Oman, he was conferred the Civil Service Award, Order of Oman and was granted Omani citizenship in 1991 by His Majesty Sultan Qaboos Bin Said Al-Said, the ruler of the Sultanate of Oman.

Publications: Dr. Thomas has numerous publications in famous plastic surgery journals and has conducted numerous presentations at prestigious international conferences. His original work 'Primary Open Rhinoplasty along with the Repair of the Cleft Lip' was published as a lead article in the British Journal of Plastic Surgery. 'The long term follow up of the primary Rhinoplasty by open approach' was published in the Journal of Craniofacial Surgery Vol: 20 supplement II Sep2009. He has edited the Hand Book of Plastic Surgery, which is the textbook for the medical students and doctors in Oman. At present, he is the Regional Editor of Craniofacial Journal published from the USA and also a member of the Editorial Board of the Indian Journal of Plastic Surgery. He is a guest plastic surgeon in 'Operation Smile' at Norfolk, Virginia and also a Regional Advisor to the 'Smile Train' project at New York.
