Greetings, I am Dr. Sudha, your friendly ophthalmologist at ATLAS! Ophthalmology holds a special place in my heart. I once visited a school for blind children and found the kids there absolutely adorable. At first, when I thought about these innocent children and their loss of vision I felt angry. It seemed unfair. Blindness seemed scary, sad and difficult. But as I looked closer, the children seemed happy. The teachers were committed to not letting the children's sensory deprivation or difficulties hold them back. The kids were told inspiring stories of famous blind people, like Erik Weihenmayer, the blind man who successfully climbed Mt. Everest and Dr. Geerat Vermeij, a renowned blind marine biologist. The school taught the children basic life skills making them confident and fairly independent. And the children seemed to love their community. This experience greatly influenced me and fueled my desire to be an ophthalmologist. It taught me compassion and that nothing is impossible. It taught me how important it is to adopt a positive attitude. It also taught me about happiness, how infectious it is and what a strong force it can be. Happiness keeps our body healthy – physically, mentally and spiritually. I am grateful for my opportunity to serve your vision needs and to keep you happy! A little more about me
