Dr. R. R. Sharma, as he is popularly known, is a senior consultant in neurosurgery with more than 25 years of neurosurgical experience for brain, spine and peripheral nerve disorders. He has worked in several well known medical institutions including Senth GS Medical College and KEM Hospital in Mumbai, New Castle Hospital in the United Kingdom, Royal Preston Hospital in the United Kingdom and Morriston Hospital in Swansea, Wales.

After completing his specialization Dr. Sharma showed a special interest in teaching. He always believes that teaching keeps one in touch with recent scientific events and medical innovation. In his own words, "the more you discuss, the more you learn".

Dr. Sharma is famous in the medical industry and practices with great expertise in microsurgery of the brain, spine and peripheral nerve problems, neuro-rehabilitation (neuro-stimulation, botox therapy and pain management), image guided stereotactic brain surgery and skill based surgery.

The special field of neurological surgery in Oman has come a long way to its current status, at par with many modern neurosurgical centers around the globe. In the development of the neurosurgical specialty at ATLAS, Dr.Sharma's contributions as a senior consultant have been immeasurable. He has personally developed the department from scratch and has performed several major and minor surgeries like carpal tunnel release and decompression, cervical laminectomy, lumbar laminectomy and orbital floor exploration, to name a few at ATLAS.
