ATLAS Healthcare Division was founded by Dr. M.M. Ramachandran with his dedication to contribute to the well-being of our communities and driven by his strong belief that wellness and good health is a basic right for all.
August – ATLAS Medical Centre and Pharmacy is established at Muscat in the Sultanate of Oman.
November – ATLAS begins accepting insurance coverage.  
The first baby, a beautiful baby girl, is born to the
Jayakumar family in the ATLAS Labor Room.
May – The Emergency Services and Casualty Department is
launched at AMC, Muscat thereby making medical services round the clock. May – The first health education camp is organized by ATLAS. September – AMC, Muscat doubles Inpatient Facilities October – An Operation Theater and Labor Complex for all surgical and maternity procedures is introduced at AMC, Muscat. October – The first ophthalmic procedure is successfully   
The first plastic surgery, a cleft lip operation, is successfully performed.
November – The Neurology and Neurosurgery Department
is launched at AMC, Muscat. December – The Urology Department opens at AMC, Muscat. 
Cyclone Gonu batters Oman, the strongest storm to hit the Arabian Peninsula since records started in 1945. With the assistance of Oman Radio, ATLAS is able to rescue several trapped families in Ghoubra and provide medical aid. Three deliveries are conducted at ATLAS and all the "Gonu babies" are in safe hands, out of harm's way. The hospital also serves as a refuge to many families to escape the wrath of the storm. Those dark days truly brought out the best in our people and we consider it to be our finest hour.
March – The Cardiology and ICU Departments is
unveiled at AMC, Muscat. June – The 1000'th surgery is successfully performed. August – The first blood donation drive is conducted at ATLAS. These drives are now consistently conducted as part of our commitment to society to help maintain a steady supply of blood. September – The first hip replacement surgery December – The Orthopedic, Physiotherapy and Ophthalmologic   
ATLAS steps up our social commitment initiatives performing the first of several charitable surgeries, free of cost.
April – The first healthcare conference is hosted by ATLAS.
The Director General of Health Services presents a Certificate of Appreciation to ATLAS for providing high quality medical care to the Omani Public.
February – Half a million prescriptions are filled.
March – The 1000'th baby is born at ATLAS. August – The first laparoscopic surgery
